Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of new North Carolina coach Bill Belichick, was among the most visible attendees as the Tar Heels opened their season Monday night against TCU at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

Hudson, who sat on the sidelines alongside her partner as Belichick made his college coaching debut, celebrated early in the game when Caleb Hood scored on an 8-yard rush in the first quarter. She was seen wearing a white tank top and Carolina blue pants and joined former NFL star Randy Moss in a suite after the touchdown.

Television coverage highlighted the celebrity-packed crowd during UNC’s first touchdown under Belichick. ESPN play-by-play announcer Chris Fowler noted the presence of high-profile guests, saying, “The dignitaries pleased with the way the festivities have started here for the Heels, Kirk.” The broadcast showed former UNC figures and celebrities, including Roy Williams, Michael Jordan, Hudson and Moss.

Also spotted at Chapel Hill were former NFL defensive end Lawrence Taylor. Other notable figures expected to be in attendance included soccer star Mia Hamm, former NFL pass rusher Julius Peppers and entertainers such as Eric Church and Chase Rice, as well as baseball pitcher Blake Snell.

Belichick’s appearance at his first UNC game came after he signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the university in December. The season opener at Chapel Hill drew heightened attention in part because of the coach’s long NFL resume and the unusual cross-section of sports and entertainment figures present for the kickoff.

Caleb Hood’s scoring run gave UNC an early lead and provided one of the game’s early focal points for the assembled crowd. The game continued under the lights at Kenan Memorial Stadium as the Tar Heels and TCU closed out the first quarter and moved into the later stages of the opener.

Belichick, widely known for his long tenure in the NFL, will remain the central figure for UNC as the program begins the season under his leadership. The presence of high-profile guests and the national broadcast spotlight underscored the attention on Chapel Hill for the program’s first game with Belichick at the helm.

The Tar Heels will continue their schedule following the opener as college football moves deeper into its season and UNC seeks to establish its identity under its new head coach.
